Available Seascape Paintings.

They're inspired by the big waves and rugged cliffs along the Cornish coast.   Most are set in the storms that occur here during the winter months, especially on the west facing shores.   Many of them are painted on board with bold brush strokes with fine detailing on the waves and range in size from 30x40cm to 75x95cm.   Others are rendered on canvas with oil and framed in a more traditional way.   When a piece is coming to completion I will leave it for a week or two in a visible spot and ponder over it until I simply just don’t feel the need to touch it anymore..   Get in touch now to arrange a viewing and a chat about my work.   email: matthew@waveart.co.uk.

Gouache (pronounced goo-ash) is used in many of my paintings.   It is a fast-drying, water-based paint, often described as opaque watercolor.   Composed of pigment, water, a binding agent (usually gum arabic), and sometimes chalk, it dries to a smooth, matte finish.   Unlike watercolor, gouache is thick and opaque allowing artists to layer light colors over dark.
